The Manitoba Foundation for the Arts was established in 1995 with the mandate to promote, support and advance the arts in the province by planning, coordinating and supporting the celebration and recognition of the arts in Manitoba through, among other activities, the Above & Beyond Awards for the Arts. Every second year, the Manitoba Foundation for the Arts honours dedicated Manitoba individuals and organizations that go above and beyond their daily professions to use art in ways that enhance the communities they live in and the overall quality of life in Manitoba. The 2010 Above and Beyond Awards for the Arts are privileged to have as their Honourary Patron, the Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba, The Honourable Phillip S. Lee. The deadline for nominations for the awards is January 29 th, 2010.

The National Screen Institute
The National Screen Institute – Canada (NSI) Maple Pictures Corp., whose Co-President Brad Pelman sits on the board of NSI, is establishing a bursary for emerging filmmaking teams developing productions with a social conscience.
The bursary, which will allocate $500 per year for three years, will be awarded to a qualifying filmmaking team as part of the NSI Features First training program. Roundtable discussions: January 26th and 27th, 2010
This is an invitation to participate in roundtable discussions in Winnipeg, MB on Tuesday January 26th or Wednesday January 27th, 2010 from 7-9 p.m., as part of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights' content and story-gathering tour across Canada.
This is an opportunity to contribute your experiences and your perspectives to Canada's newest national museum, due to open in Winnipeg in 2012.
Your feedback and input will help us as we develop the exhibits for the new Museum and identify ways in which we can continue to have an ongoing dialogue with all Canadians. The Museum's purpose is to explore the subject of human rights in order to enhance the public's understanding of human rights, to promote respect for others, and to encourage reflection and dialogue.
